Watching the movie The Help and I'm noticing some similarities here mirroring the mentality of fear that contorts peoples perception of human rights boundaries and why we seem so at ease with crossing them "for the safety and wellbeing" of ourselves and families. The scene that is sticking out to me at this moment is the one where Aibileen is made to use the outhouse they built for her as to avoid any contamination from "those peoples germs"...I just wanted to highlight something that I think gets skimmed over all too easily and dismissed for the tool of destruction and division it was: the fear. Often jokes have been made through the decades depicting the leftovers of this social stigma encouraged to develop by the use of this manipulation-tactic but usually in the sense of whitey being intimidated by their skin-tone, build or general "gangster" appearance--fearing they'll be "mugged" or assaulted.
